Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden

As reported in the written and electronic media and on our website, we are renovating our Great Lake, the Rock Garden, the Buffalo House and the Giraffe House. The renovation requires construction work that may cause temporary inconveniences for our visitors. However, we are committed to provide the public with the same experience and ensure that the species affected by the construction may be viewed at other locations of the Zoo.
We have construction work in two zones of our Zoo. The first is the Great Lake and Rock Garden area, and the other is the district of the Buffalo House and the Giraffe House.
We had to close off some parts of these areas from visitors. During the planning and scheduling of the construction, we wanted to ensure that our visitors enjoy the full experience despite the renovations. Hence, the public may view almost all the animals as before, but we had to move some species to different locations. During the construction, our visitors can enjoy all the spectacles the Zoo has to offer. However, at times the public may experience minor inconveniences because, due to the closing of the construction sites, to some areas of the Zoo our visitors may have to take a detour. We wish to take this opportunity to apologize to our visitors for the inconvenience. We hope for your understanding and would like to assure the public that the temporary inconveniences are not in vain. These areas of the Zoo will reborn, the animals will have a more comfortable habitat, and our visitors may count on a fuller experience as a result of the renovations.
The construction sites are marked with yellow-green stripes on the map.
