Eugen, the more than 4-meter-long American Alligator came to the Budapest Zoo in spring, behind the 4-meter-long animal's commanding looks lies a loving personality.Thanks to this and of course because of our colleague's hard work, he has a good relationship with his keepers.

From experience, we know that many of our visitors are interested in the relationship between animal and keeper. Therefore, we thought that in our new short film we will show you, how Eugen the American Alligator works with his keepers.

The relationship between animal and keeper is rather important, but in Eugen's case it is extremely crutial in the early autumn. The now 47-year-old animal before Budapest lived in a place where despite the comforts, he did not have any outdoor enclosure. In Budapest, he has the opportunity to go outdoors, and he enjoys it too that in the late morning and in the afternoons, he can be outside. Until the weather allows it, he gets this chance every day.

With spring comes the time when during the day it is still a comfortable temperature, but in the evening the temperature drops down. And if this happens, he is only allowed to leave the inside enclosure during the day, when his keepers are sure that he will be able to be persuaded to go inside in the afternoon cold.
